Wickless Wednesday: Bath & Body Works London Calling Wallflower Bulb

I think, at this point, my love of lemon scents is pretty established. London Calling is one of the few candles giving me life and keeping me coming back to candles at all. Well, I got my hands on a London Calling Wallflower bulb, so I wanted to share it with you!

Don't you just love this tag and its background? The London Calling branding is so brilliant and cute, I just love the detailing they did for this scent in their home fragrance line.

Here's our Wallflower plug-in! I really wanted the lighthouse light-up plug-in, but it was sold out in store and online, and I haven't seen it since. Sad, since our bathroom is beach themed. Well, butterflies are part of nature, so in a huge stretch, it fits? That's my justification. I love the fact that it has a light on it because I'm extremely paranoid and it helps me see at night.

Now, onto the scent. It's perfection! It's nice and strong, just like its candle counterpart. Unfortunately, we gave needed to plug something else in the bathroom, and Josh laid this down on its side, dumping it all over the sink over a few hours. BOO, it's almost all gone now, and it's not online anymore. Sadness. Oh well, I've got a ton of the candles to make up for it! I give this wallflower a 10/10, for scent, throw, and general amazingness.

Have you tried this scent in any form? I might sound insane, but I'd love to see this scent in a fragrance mist. ;)

Project Wax #2, Update #3!

As I mentioned, I had a slip-up on my Project Wax box last week when Beezy Tarts restocked. Karen did the same thing, it turns out! Oh well, I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I'm venturing way outside of my comfort zone in this box because some of the scents are not up my alley (and are staying that way, LOL!).

Can-Do-Candles Pink Sugar Beans: 2/10, no scent whatsoever while warming, a small bit on cold sniff. SAD.

Candles from the Keeping Room's Blonde Moment: 7/10, nice mildly effervescent tart, fruity and fun, great for summer!

Candles from the Keeping Room's Coconut Cabana: 5/10, just average, not super strong, nice coconut smell but was few and far between.

Candles from the Keeping Room's Fresh Picked Strawberry: 6/10, I can see why some people think this smells like nail polish remover, it is a bit astringent, but sweet enough to keep me interested. Don't let this deter you, it's not picked up by everyone's nose. I enjoyed this, Josh did too!

Candles from the Keeping Room's Pink Fruity and Bright: 7/10, another wonderfully fruity smell mixed with something sweet. Would walk in and out of the room and smell this a lot! Liked it enough to purchase it!

Candles from the Keeping Room's Strawberry Dew: 6/10, very bubbly soda smell mixed with sweet strawberry. I enjoyed, but would have likes a bit more throw.

Candles from the Keeping Room's Sugar Cookie Noel: 7.5/10, LOVELY! I really liked this one a lot, very sweet and smelled like fresh cookies. So good.

Candles from the Keeping Room's Sun and Sand: 6.5/10, good dupe, very summery, smells like suntan lotion!

Random Post: Beach Themed Bathroom!

If you're just tuning into this blog within the past 2-3 months or so, I want to reiterate something important about mine and Josh's life since the end of last year.
His mom passed away in October 2012.
He and she and I were all very close. It has been hard. Not a day goes by that I/we don't think of her.
We moved into and bought her house about 6 months after this happened, and when we did, we made it our goal to "put our stamp" on this house.
Her dad helped build this place. She lived here almost her entire life. When Josh was in a tough spot, she let him move back here. This is where he lived when he and I met 8 years ago. We have lots of memories with this house, but when we moved in, we were determined to make new memories of our own here.

So, we remodeled the bathroom. It was in pretty bad condition before we moved in...the shower was corroding in some parts, had rotten wood in others. The toilet was too short. The fixtures were not our style. We had a vision, and we're just about done with it.
I want to share the "remodel" with you. Some of it was done by us, some we had to have done, like the wainscotting and shower construction.

This is the most clear photo I have of the bathroom before, with Freddo's cousin Sydney included. As you can see, the wall color is white on top, and there are light greenish/gray tiles on the walls, with a thin strip of blue/green runner tiles and a wooden strip at the top. To the left, the counters have a white/gray tile, two sinks with jagged-knobbed faucets, and wood runner, too. If you look towards the back of the photo, you can see there is a shower door, a large step into the shower, and those same tiles all around the walls, with a small corkboard type of material lining a separation wall that hides the toilet.

The tiles had to come off, first. Then, the drywall. Let me tell you, this was hard. Josh did the majority of this by himself, but I helped here and there...I am not very strong because of my arthritis, so I wasn't any help, but the little that I did left me sore for a few days. I can only imagine how he felt!

The tile lined the entire area behind the jacuzzi tub, which his mom wanted but very rarely ever used. It all had to be removed, and in hindsight, it would have been smarter to cover up the tub before we began this project. We are still having to clean out those jets in the tub and haven't been able to use it yet.

So, after all was said and done, the tiles/drywall were removed and replaced with wainscotting! We were going for an old school beachy feel to it, and it looks so, so good! The corkboard material was also filled in and replaced with wainscotting. The step in the shower was lowered, and the runner was replaced with this really cool varying blue tile, which, if you look waaay towards the back of the shower, you can see also runs through the shower wall! We replaced the faucets and tiles backing the counter, too. It came together very nicely!

This is the color of our bathroom now! It's a really bright blue, even brighter than this photo leads you to believe! We got these cool shadow boxes with starfish in them from Amazon and love how it ties into the beach theme! It also adds different colors to the wall to break up the blue paint color.

How cute are these towel rings/holders?! We added them because there was no real place to hang towels in the bathroom! They were also an Amazon find (though they were about $4-$5 cheaper when we bought them), and the rustic look of these really beings an old timey feel to the bathroom.

Project Wax #2, Update #2!

We had a lot going on last week, so I didn't get to melt as much as I wanted. I still think my Project Box is going successfully, but Karen and I both had the same slip-up when Beezy Tarts restocked, so I don't feel as horrible as I did before! Is that a failure? LOL.

Haul: Collective Front Porch Haul, June 2013!

I'll admit it: I'm addicted to Front Porch. Who can resist free shipping on ANY SIZED ORDER?
Apparently not me, because I placed two orders in June. Let's take a look!

The majority of my hauls consist of single tarts. I like to try one tart first, then work my way up to bulk. Seems reasonable, right? Here we have:

• Beach Cheeks: a fruity/melon-ish/suntan sort of scent, straight from the beach. I like this, but not enough to repurchase it based on cold sniff alone, I think. We'll have to see how it performs.
• Almond Extract: smells EXACTLY like the stuff straight from a bottle, but I think this is actually stronger! Yum!

• Tiare Flowers: Yankee has a scent sort of like this, if I'm not mistaken, but this is definitely stronger (who am I kidding, of course it is). This will be nice in the office. I like to melt florals in the office because there's a big window in there, and if it gets too overpowering, that's the best room for air circulation (IE: buh-bye floral scent). This is nice, but...
• Honeysuckle: ...I prefer this tart much, much more! I love the smell of honeysuckle, it's just incredible. Angie's version is no different: it's strong, slightly powdery, and even mildly sweet. Love!

• Grandma's Kitchen: this is an extreme apple scent with hints of bakery and spice. If I'm not mistaken, it's a combination of two different apple scents and a spiced scent. Let me look real quick..."(In House Blend) Blend of Macintosh Apple, Hot Apple Pie and Celtic Moonspice." Ding, ding, ding, ding! This is exactly what it smells like, bits of bakery mixed in with a huge apple punch and slight cinnamonality. I want to eat this.
• Serendipity Cotton Candy Bubble Gum: this is nice, but the serendipity is sort of reduced to a faint coconut scent behind the big blast of bubble gum, cotton candy sweetness. I think, with cure time, this will be a very nice blend! I got this mainly because it's so popular right now and I wanted to try it out!

• Orange Blossom: lovely florals mixed in between slight orange notes. As I smell this one, the orange gets stronger. Do I detect slight hints of jasmine in this? Possibly, but I'm not the best at guessing floral notes.
• Sun Your Buns (unlabeled): this is two types of suntan mixed together for ultimate summertime fun! I like it, but it's stupid strong on cold sniff...it might be headache inducing, too.
• Lemon Cookies: Deb at Its Always Something... told me she really liked Front Porch's Lemon Cookies, so I needed to try this one. Of course, it's a smash hit! I LOVE THIS SCENT! It's so good! Very sugary and sweet. Yum!

• Strawberry Satsuma: another popular blend I'm loving right now. This one is a nice balance of the two scents...first you get orange, then the next sniff you get strawberry, it's really nice!
• Calm Sea: A repurchase for me, one of the best "sea" scents I have ever smelled. Very authentic, deep, masculine, and watery! It's so good, such a nice and fresh floral scent.

• Home is my Sweet Home: a spicy cupboard type of scent. I initially liked this, but now I am picking up a funky note in it. I will have to see how this melts.
• Snuggable Laundry: I gave my Aunt this tart when she came out from Nebraska to visit, so I wanted to get another single to see how it does while warming. I really like laundry scents right now!

• Lemon Marshmallow (new scoopable format, 6 oz. container): the reason for this order. I have not been able to get my hands of Lemon Marshmallow in bulk for quite some time now, but I finally have more than one tarts worth of melting! Probably my favorite Front Porch scent.

• Loopy Lemon Cream (4-pack): Beauxsavonsfrais carries this scent, but I've never smelled it. This is a mix of fruit loops, lemon, and coconut cream pie...well, FP's blend is, not sure what is in BSF's. Anywho, this is fantastic on cold sniff! I love it, anything with lemon from Angie is a winner in my book. It smells like it will be very strong, too.

Whole Lotta Empties Goin' On #2!

I've got tons of empties to share with you today from before I started Project Wax (I like to let empties and wax pile up every now and then so I have tons of things to write about).

This time around, I think I will also review some of the products (if they have other plans on other posts) that have not been reviewed before, like I am doing with my Project Wax post, just to give you some insight on how I liked/disliked the product!

• Lil' Kitchen Candles' Serendipity Noel: this was alright...the throw was decent and it was a nice serendipity, but it wasn't my favorite. It's a shame this company is closed now, though, because she had tons of great products. (Beauxsavonsfrais has picked up some of their most popular ones). 5.5/10! (3 large Hello Kitty tarts)

• Lil' Kitchen Candles' Sixteen Candles: a bakery scent, this one was nice. I don't remember what was in it, but it was super buttercreamy. 6/10! (3 large Hello Kitty tarts)

• The Bathing Garden's Cinnamon Styx: Unfortunately, this was very, very weak. I had to use the remaining 4 cubes just to get a light throw. Not my favorite cinnamon scent. 3.5/10! (6 cube clamshell)

• Front Porch's Vanilla Noel: rivals Tiffany Candles VBN, in my opinion...this is awesome. Very luscious and caramel smelling, great throw, crowd favorite, for sure. 8/10! (4-pack)

• Aunt Smellman's Peppermint (6 cube clamshell)

• Haley's Heavenly Scents' Whipped Pink Peppermints: (gift from Karen, 6 scalloped tarts)

• Front Porch's Peppermint Noel (4-pack)

• The Bathing Garden's The Olive Lemon Grove: A scent I don't mind having a lighter throw. This is really nice, soothing for nighttime! Lush dupe? You get the olivey note and lemon mixed together. SO GOOD. 7/10! (6 cube clamshell)

• Tiffany Candles' Oatmeal, Milk & Honey: Another fantastic nighttime scent. This is the only mix where I don't mind "milk," for some reason. Soothing nighttime scent (again, yes), and this blend was heavy on the honey. Yum! 7/10! (3-pack of scalloped tarts, old wax blend)

• Ollie's Soaps' Serendipity Birthday: the best serendipity and birthday cake blend I have ever smelled! Strong, sweet, coconutty, fabulous! Love this! 8/10! (bag filled with 10-12 square pieces)

• Candles From The Keeping Room's Pink Sugared Serendipity: my all-time favorite serendipity blend. Carol's is the best. Ever. So good. The pink sugar is really heavy in this, but the serendipity shines through, too. YUM! 9.5/10! (5 square tarts)

• Candles From The Keeping Room's Pink Sugar Vanilla Bean Noel: another great blend! Delicious, but not as strong as others I have smelled. Nice, but would have liked this to be a bit stronger. 7/10! (4 slightly larger rounded grubbies)

I was chosen to be a participant in the Mary Kay Glamour Look VoxBox, and I couldn't be more thrilled! When it comes to makeup, Mary Kay is probably one of the most recognizable names ever, wouldn't you say? I remember going to a Mary Kay meeting with my mom before, and it was fun trying out different types of stuff! Mary Kay also came to my Girl Scout troop when I was younger and let us try their products.

This box was completely free and loaded with makeup goodies. Let's take a look, shall we?

LOOK AT ALL THIS GREAT STUFF!!

This VoxBox included:

• Lash Primer: I have never used this, but enjoyed doing so for the first time. It's basically a pre-mascara that you use to make your eyelashes look thicker and fuller. I could really tell the difference!
• Mascara: Mascara usually isn't my "thing," but this one went on quite smoothly. I did experience a bit of clumping and am not sure if it's because of the primer or just because of the formula.
• Eye shadow: this is a creamy shadow in A sort of purple and silver metallica color with flecks of orange, I'm sensing? Almost sunset looking. Very pretty and I have used it several times already!
• Lipstick: I'm generally more of a chapstick/lip gloss sort of gal, but I do have other brands of lipstick I wear on special occasions. This lipstick was a bit too pink/rose colored for my face, but it applied like a dream. I'd say the staying power was about an hour to two hours before it started to wear off.
• Brush: I used this brush to bring volume to my eye shadow and it really worked well. I already own a brush like this but it's much smaller, and I prefer this one because it has a longer handle, making it easier to use. Yay!

Daphne's Divine Scents and Aromas Loopy 7up Pound Cake
-6.5/10: very bubbly cake scent, sweet and limey, but fizzled after 3 hours. Lasted a total of 5, could have dumped it sooner. Medium-high strength, nice scent!

Streetman Candle Company's Cherry Chapstick
-5/10: definitely not my type of scent. As the name implies, this is a very artificial cherry, but it did smell that way (not like chapstick, but like the cherry aspect of it, if that makes any sense). Throw was decent, just not my thing.

-2/10: yuck, gross, awful, bleck, ew. It's nothing that Sweet Fixations as a company did, it's just me...I HATE butterscotch scents. This isn't the first time, either. This was STRONG though, I could smell is everywhere inside and outside our house. It haunted me and followed me. YUCK.

The Scented Princess' Serendipity VBN Fruity Rings
-6/10: The VBN gets lost in this, sort of...there's a bit of extra sweetness, like a bit more coconutty fruit loops. It's not bad, just not my favorite blend. I melted both tarts this week, during separate occasions.

Tara's Candle Cottage's Peeps
-4/10: very weak throw, it was basically a light scented sweet tart; not very "marshmallowy," just sweet.

Candles From The Keeping Room's Key Lime Cheesecake
-3/10: low-medium throw; decent lime scent, awful cheesecake blend. I am finding I don't like cheesecake scents as they smell of moldy, stinky feet. Bleck.

Front Porch's Marshmallow
-6/10: great stand alone scent! Surprising! Very awesome, gooey marshmallow scent, sweet and lovely. On the lighter side of medium throw.

Molten Melts Chicks Dig It
-3.5-4/10: Forgettable, just a bubbly, fruity scent. Couldn't smell it unless you were right on top of it.

Lasting Scent Candles Pink Sands
-7.5-8/10: INCREDIBLE dupe! Spot on! Loved this...it traveled throughout the house, high throw and delicious smell. I have found a winner with this one! Fruity, sweet, fun.
